“Tinubu! You’re Killing Democracy” — Davido Raises Alarm Over Alleged Security Withdrawal in Osun- Davido roars as he discloses a plot to withdraw the police and military from the ongoing election in Osun state.👀

Afrobeats star Davido called out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, alleging that security personnel were being withdrawn from the state as voting and counting continued.

“Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! MR PRESIDENT TINUBU! UR KILLING DEMOCRACY,” Davido wrote on X.

Davido, whose uncle Ademola Adeleke was seeking re-election, was actively commenting on developments throughout the election. He also raised concerns about delays in uploading polling-unit results to INEC's IReV portal and urged voters to ensure their results were properly recorded.

However, the claim about withdrawing security personnel was not independently established in the reports reviewed. One report specifically noted that it was unclear which polling units Davido was referring to and whether an official order to withdraw security personnel had been issued.

The security presence in Osun was substantial. Reports said thousands of police officers and other security personnel had been deployed for the election, with officials saying the deployment was intended to maintain order and protect voters and electoral personnel.

Davido's intervention therefore became another major social-media moment surrounding an already closely watched election — particularly because of his family connection to the incumbent governor.

When a celebrity makes a serious allegation during an election, should Nigerians treat the claim as an early warning or wait for independent confirmation before drawing conclusions?
