Governor Ademola Adeleke has won re-election as Osun State governor, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the 2026 governorship election. Adeleke secured 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815, giving the incumbent a winning margin of 66,252 votes. INEC formally declared Adeleke the winner at the state collation centre in Osogbo on August 16.
The result was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Reports from Premium Times and The Guardian independently confirm the vote totals and margin.
Adeleke, running on the Accord Party platform, won 19 of Osun's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji of the APC won 11. Najeem Salaam of the ADC finished third with 17,180 votes.
The victory gives Adeleke another four-year term. It is also notable because he won his first term in 2022 under the PDP before defecting to Accord in December 2025.
This election is bigger than a simple victory headline. Adeleke's return to office shows how political loyalty, incumbency and voter choice can intersect in a closely watched state election.
