“The journey continues” – Funke Akindele overwhelmed with gratitude following honour and recognition from NFVCB

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is overwhelmed with gratitude following the honour and recognition from NFVCB. 

 Jaiyeorie reported that the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) had honoured the box office Queen in recognition of her record-breaking achievements at a ceremony held on Friday at the NFVCB’s Ikoyi office in Lagos, attended by key stakeholders and industry practitioners. Akindele won the Box Office Champion Award (2020) for her blockbuster “Omo Ghetto.” 



She also claimed the Audience Choice Award (2024/2025) and the Box Office Champion Award (2024/2025) for “Everybody Loves Jenifa”, the Box Office Champion Award (2024/2025) for “Everybody Loves Jenifa” as well as the Box Office Champion Award (2025/2026) for “Behind The Scenes”. Taking to her Instagram page, she said she was honoured and recognised for her hard work and consistency in the entertainment industry, and expressed her gratitude. Appreciating the organisers of the award, Akindele dedicated her awards to every creative who dares to dream big and stay consistent. She appreciated them for believing in her and in the vision.

The filmmaker had shared a humbling moment between her and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The filmmaker revealed that the Governor watched her movie Behind The Scenes, and stated that moments like this remind her that when she stays committed to her craft and remains consistent, her work will speak for her in places she never imagines. The box-office Queen also met the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alh Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, alongside Cute Abiola, Funmi Awelewa, Erekere, and others. Sharing a clip from the courtesy visit, Funke described it as emotional, as she appreciated the monarch for his warm reception. Funke had shattered records as her 2025 Cinema movie, Behind The Scenes, grossed N2,100,000,000 in a month.
