#jaiyeorie The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences met Wednesday to discuss what to do about Will Smith's Chris Rock smack.
"Mr. Smith is being granted at least 15 days' notice of a vote about his offenses and punishments, and the chance to be heard beforehand by way of a written rebuttal," the Academy stated of the "disciplinary processes" it has launched, via Deadline.
"At the next board meeting on April 18, the Academy may take any disciplinary action, including suspension, expulsion, or other consequences allowed by the Bylaws and Standards of Conduct," according to the statement.
Smith was also asked to do something, according to the body. 
The organization went on to say that after slapping Rock, Smith was asked to leave the Dolby Theatre, but he refused.
"While we would want to stress that Mr. Smith was requested to leave the event and refused," the Academy wrote, "we also understand that we might have handled the situation differently."
