Lagos Govt Begins Publishing Names, Photos Of Sex Offenders

#jaiyeorie The Lagos State Government has declared that it will begin publishing information on sex offenders in the state.

Mrs Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), made the news on Thursday, March 10.

The facts, according to Adeniyi, include the sex offender's name and image, the nature of the offense, and the length of the sentence imposed by the court.

She pointed out that this was in accordance with the terms of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, specifically section 42, which mandates that the agency disclose information on sex criminals in the state on a regular basis.

Details of sex prisoners will be published on the State Government's website (www.lagosstate.gov.ng), the Ministry of Justice's website (https://lagosstatemoj.org), and the Agency's website on a regular basis (www.dsvrtlagos.org).

Reiterating that the State government is committed to preventing sexual and domestic abuse and guaranteeing justice for all survivors, Adeniyi advised Lagosians to phone the toll-free number 08000333333 to report any cases of domestic and sexual assault.
