#jaiyeorie  Joy Labinjo's first exhibition in Nigeria and on the continent at Tiwani Contemporary Lagos, the gallery is delighted to host a conversation between the British-Nigerian artist⁠ Joy Labinjo new series presents the body as a political agent and platform. By portraying herself nude, she invites the viewer to consider the artist’s position, and the cultural loads that cover the body.

 Labinjo obscures reference to place, time, and social affiliation and prioritises her self-perspective, removing much of the representational content that took precedence in earlier work. These works imitate a personal relationship between Labinjo and her body and present a point through which the artist is able to build associations that inform her interpretations of her surroundings and crucially, her own body.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Temitayo Ogunbiyi is a Nigerian-based contemporary artist and curator. 

She is known for her exhibitions in several museums, the most popular being the playground installed at Italy's Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Donnaregina in 2020, known as You Can Play in the Everyday, Running. She earned a BA from Princeton University, New Jersey, in 2006 and later received her master's degree in art history from Columbia University, New York, in 2011. Lala Akindoju detailed her birthing experience in a lengthy Instagram post as she marks the first year of her little boy’s life. Lala revealed that she went into labour on February 18, 2021 but after being at the hospital for hours, she was barely 2cm dilated. She was then sent home. Contractions went on throughout the night and by the morning of February 19, she was about 5cm and she headed back to the clinic. At this point, she has barely slept at all. When she got to the hospital, she was admitted and tried to get comfortable to sleep but everyone she laid on her side, her baby’s heartbeat would drop drastically. The only time it regulated was when she was kneeling on all fours. This went on for hours until she was fully dilated and ready to push. Lala Akindoju shared that she was beyond tired at this point and just wanted to doze off. She revealed that just about when the baby was ready to be born, his heart rate dropped again and they prepped for the OR as the best option was a Cesarean Section. About to enter the OR, the heart rate picked up to 150 again and there was no need for surgery. Celebrity jeweler Alex Moss tells TMZ, he just finished up a lucky No. 11 ring for Drake, made of gold and diamonds. The No. 11 is significant, it's the day Drake's son, Adonis, was born and the jeweler says Drake wanted to incorporate the date in the design. There is also owl imagery, with the bird's wings wrapping around to form the ring. Drake uses the owl because his brand "OVO" resembles an owl face. The ring was said to costs $77,000, weighs in at 83 grams, with 14 karat gold and 15.7 carats of VVS D-F natural diamonds. The jeweler toiled over the piece for about 2 months, and it was a gift to Drake from Kai Bent-Lee, the restaurateur and son of famous Canadian celebrity chef Susur Lee.
