The 65-metre Galactica Star superyacht owned by Kolawole Aluko, the Nigerian oil mogul has been sold.

Yachtharbour.com said the yacht was sold on 25 July. Fraser representing the seller and Burgess represented the buyer. The vessel was listed for sale earlier this year for $ 42,000,000, as a result of a notorious corruption case in Nigeria, involving Aluko, Prince Olajide Omokore and former oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Today, 29 July 2019 marks 53 years since  Major General Aguiyi Ironsi, Head of State and Lt. Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, were murdered in a revenge coup in Ibadan.

When the January 15, 1966 coup  brought Ironsi into power, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was spending term in Calabar  Prison. He was jailed by the Tafawa Balewa Government  for  alleged treasonable felony.

Awolowo  thought that the new regime would release him.

All Tokyo 2020 Olympic Medals Are Made From Recycled Electronic Waste

  

 Japan has been selected to host this prestigious event in 2020, these medals are also an opportunity for Japan to showcase its culture and charm to the rest of the world.

Carrying the spirit of an environmentally friendly and sustainable society, The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) has conducted Tokyo 2020 Medal Project to collect unused electronic devices such as unused cell phones all over Japan. This decision marks the first time in history that the Olympic and Paralympic Games involve citizens and manufacture winning medals using recycled metal. Designed by Junichi Kawanishi, there are 5,000 medals in total that have been produced from those small electronic devices, thanks to people all over japan that contribute to this project. By recycling all those unused components, this project wants to show the world Japan’s effort to contribute to a sustainable society and it certainly becomes the legacy of Tokyo 2020 Games.

“BEYONCE may have a starring role in The Lion King movie, but she is struggling to keep her claws in to her title as Queen Bey.
The singer curated and produced an album to go alongside the new Disney film but it has flopped being downloaded just 949 times in the UK in the first five days.
I can reveal Bey, who voices Nala in the film, was paid £25million for the movie, official soundtrack and this accompanying album, but it has failed to strike a chord with fans.
She sings on 13 tracks on The Lion King: The Gift, with guests including her husband Jay Z, Pharrell Williams and Kendrick Lamar.
But in a massive blow to Disney, she is now being outsold four to one on downloads by Brit newcomer Freya Ridings.

UNILAG Suspends 108 Students For Social Misconduct

This is to inform the public that the management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has punished a total of 108 student for social misconduct.
The exact social misconduct includes:

• Disruption of Peace Misconduct
• Drugs and Drug Related Misconduct
• Monetary/ Property Misconduct
• Sexual Misconduct
• Weapons, Firearms and Explosive Misconduct

Some of the students were expelled, warned, suspended and rusticated.

Nigerian-Irish Athlete, Rhasidat Adeleke Wins Gold In 100m Race At European Youth Olympic

  

Rhasidat Adeleke,16 is an athlete who represented Ireland in the recently held European Youth Olympics (EYOF) in Baku, Azerbaijan and she won a gold medal in the women’s 100m final.

This win will be Adeleke’s first gold medal as she crossed the line comfortably in a time of 11.70 seconds ahead of Johanna Klymanen (Finland) and Cheyenne Kuhn (Germany).

The Dubliner had won a silver medal in the last edition of the EYOF in 2017. She competed in the 200m and won gold. Adeleke also won a bronze medal in the Girl’s 4 x 100m.
