NBC sanctions NTA, AIT, TVC and Channels TV for hate speech

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has sanctioned 4 major television stations in Nigeria due to hate speech.

The stations: Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), African Independent Television (AIT), Channels TV and Television Continental (TVC).
They were all sanctioned for airing on their stations hate speeches by politicians from both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) .

Muslims call out Nike over ‘blasphemous ‘ Airmax 720 logo

  

Muslims have slammed  Nike, urging them to send back their Air Max 720 trainers because the logo on the sole allegedly resembles Allah in Arabic.

Over 8,000 people have signed a petition by Saiqa Noreen, accusing the shoes of being ‘disrespectful and extremely offensive to Muslims and insulting to Islam’.

Ms Noreen said of the trainers launched in 2017

Upper Sunday I was in a life threatening accident with six other people .
I came out without a single scratch. Not one part of my body was affected , no injuries , no minor scratches or cuts . I came out like nothing happened. I can’t explain what it means to me to be sitting here completely whole and healthy after that accident .
A few things I can guarantee is that God is a miracle worker. As the car somersaulted I remember thinking to myself how is this happening to me , why is this happening BUT I also remember feeling like I was being carried, as not one part of my body felt the effects of the car tumbling.

Apple's Revenue & Profits Decline For The First Time In Over A Decade As Tim Cook Blames China

Apple posted a rare decline in revenue and profits for the second quarter - the first time it has done so in more than a decade. 

CEO Tim Cook cited steep declines in revenue from China and slowing iPhone sales as the main catalysts behind the surprising profit slump.

Revenue for the quarter ended in December came in at $84.3 billion, which is a 4.5 percent decline from the same quarter last year.

Profits slid to $19.97 billion for the quarter, down from roughly $20 billion in the same quarter last year.


Greater China revenue declined a whopping 26 percent compared to last year, with sales in the region coming in at $13.17 billion.

The labour leaders told NAN on Wednesday in Lagos that many workers would not be able to travel abroad unless the fee is reviewed downwards.

Gmail Global Meltdown!!!

Google's flagship email service, Gmail, has resumed normal service after crashing for hundreds of users across the globe, leaving them unable to read their emails.

Customers complained that they had sign in issues and were presented with the pop up 'Error 404' message along with the picture of a broken robot.

DownDetector, the popular outage monitor app, reported that issues began around 11am GMT on both desktops and mobile apps.

They reportedly registered over 400 reports from users insisting Gmail was not working properly.

Users around the UK and Europe appear to be most affected as the US remains asleep.

A number of users took to Twitter to complain about the rare occurrence.

Amit Khandelwall wrote: ' We are getting an error message on loading Gmail. Server crash?'

Joe Morris wrote: 'The world is coming to an end. GMAIL is down.'

Mariella Besana tweeted: 'So I wasn't able to log in not because of the internet, not because of my gadget, and not because I entered a wrong password. But because GMAIL IS DOWN. I am kinda relieved then also worried at the same time right now. Yikes!'

Disgraced Nigerian MP Fiona Onasanya Jailed

Disgraced Nigerian ex-Labour MP Fiona Onasanya has been jailed for three months for lying to avoid a speeding prosecution.

 She has been jailed for three months after being found guilty of lying to police to avoid a speeding fine.

The 35-year-old was driving 41mph in a 30mph zone in the village of Thorney near Peterborough.
