Atletico’s Old Vicente Calderon Stadium Set For Demolition

.

The Madrid muniquet gave a pass this Thursday for the demolition of the former house of Atlético de Madrid, the historic of Vicente Calderón. The site will become a housing project with a green space. The Athletic moved to the Manzanares stadium, as it was called, in 1966. The land, which had a capacity of 55,000, was renamed after the president of the club, Vicente Calderón, in 1972. The club left the Calderón, part of which a highway hangs, at the end of the 2016-2017 season to move to the Wula Metropolitano of 68,000 more places that will host the Champions League final this year. The Calderón hosted 14 Copa del Rey finals, 11 international Spain (during which the national team was unbeaten) and three games during the 1982 World Cup
