Yung Miami has apologised after unknown persons unearthed her old tweets in which she shared offensive statements regarding homosexuality and Haitians.
“Boy Oh Boy. If I Ever See Any Gay Shit In My Son Imma Beat That Bo So Baddd,” she tweeted back in 2013, and another one from 2011 said: “Haitians Are Black Ugly and Cheesy Don’t Matter What They Have On.”
In another tweet, she said: “Boy oh boy if I see any gay shit in my son imma beat that bo so bad.”
The homophobic and hate remarks stirred a major backlash. Also, other rappers, including Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Asian Doll, and JT, were all exposed for their writing in the past.
In a since-deleted post, Doja Cat claimed her use of a homophobic slur in the past does not make her hateful. “I’ve said faggot roughly like 15 thousand times in my life,” she tweeted. “I don’t think I hate gay people. Gay is ok.” The “Moo” singer later apologised for the post in a follow-up apology.
And in her own apology, Yung Miami expressed her remorse, saying she “didn’t mean any harm by saying those comments.”
“My deepest apologies and heart goes out to those who have that that tweet and were offended by that. The City Girls appreciate all of their support no matter what their sexuality is,” she wrote. “The comments I made about Haitians I was wrong and immature to even let my opinion about an individual person be my opinion about an entire culture.
She concluded the letter with: “I love all my City Boys and City Girls PERIOD.”
