The Nigeria Actors Guild, AGN, has ensured that it will eradicate all forms of alleged sexual harassment of its members by some producers under the pretense of assigning them juicy roles.
AGN President Emeka Ejezie told reporters in Lagos yesterday that he was part of his leadership efforts to clean up the industry.
Ejezie said: "The accusations against filmmakers by the actresses may be true or false, but we will raise our eyebrows to make sure it does not exist.
"We will restore sanity in the industry by campaigning against sexual harassment of our members and ensuring that it begins to take its place of pride."
According to him, the guild would also develop a database that would check the activities of those who enter the guild with other motives instead of acting.
He added: "We are going to expose the bad eggs in the industry if they exist by creating a database of actors, this will give us the opportunity to meet the real actors and fish the impostors."
He, however, said that the guild would create an affiliation with the bodies in charge of scripts and producers to fine-tune the quality of Nigerian films.
Ezeji said the guild would also encourage scriptwriters and producers to venture to write scripts on topics such as agriculture, engineering and information technology that could improve national development.
