Pilot John Ayerume and flight attendant, Smart Blessing recently tied the knot on April 15, 2017; in an aviation-themed wedding ceremony at Grace Covenant Ministries in Port Harcourt
The bride shared :
My name is Smart Blessing (@efejasmine), I’m a flight attendant. I met the captain of my heart through a mutual friend, she had told me earlier she has a friend who likes me a lot and he’s a pilot, in my usually mood I just told myself I did not want any pilot wahala (cos they are into women alot). Fast forward to September 16, 2014 , my friend invited me out for lunch only for me to get there to see oga pilot waiting for us, I sat there staring at his cute eye and praying to God not to allow me fall into this temptation, but God in his own way made me fall completely into his hands.Her husband also shared his own hilarious but romantic story of how he met the love of his life;
From friends to being best friends, my dark chocolate, the only captain that flies my aircraft.. I pray our love continue to grow in Jesus name.
My name is John Ayerume (@johnayerume). I am a business jet pilot. On Thursday the 16th of September 2014 I was relaxing at home on what was a rare off day for me, when an old friend and colleague of mine invited me out to lunch with her and a friend of hers. I had previously seen pictures of this her friend on social media and expressed tentative interest but never really followed it up. Little did I know, that I was about to meet the love of my life that day. As someone who is usually lazy and reluctant to drive or go out during the day in Lagos, it took some convincing and persuasion to get me out of the house that day but in the end, I made my way to GRA Ikeja as agreed.
I got to the restaurant before them so I sat down and waited. Not too long after, in came my friend with what could only be described as an understated goddess. I did my best to keep my cool after all, “I had seen and dated beautiful girls before” I said to myself. Nonetheless, there was something intimidating about her radiance and grace. Something that made me feel like I was unworthy. Yet she was so pleasant and polite. She was the complete package I thought. Beautiful yet humble. Regal yet approachable. It was very difficult to keep calm but it was me, John! The smooth operator! The sniper! Silly nicknames my colleagues and friends used to call me because I said very little but was always charming and one could say I had a way with the ladies. The lunch went smoothly, conversation was friendly and interesting. We already knew what each other did as we were in the same line of work.
At the end of the lunch, I was smitten. But of course I would never show that. I still had to play it cool. We exchanged numbers and I remember making her sweat a little before our first official date. The writing was already on the wall though from the beginning. As long as she was interested, I would be hers. By the end of that year, it was clear to me that she was it. “The One” as they say. My wife. The Irreplaceable Love of My Life.
