Olivier Rousteing has stepped down as Creative Director of Balmain after 14 years in the role. He joined the brand’s design team in 2009 and became Creative Director in 2011 at age 25, transforming Balmain into a globally recognized luxury brand with celebrity collaborations, social-media influence, and bold designs. He was the youngest and first Black designer to lead a major Paris fashion house.
Balmain confirmed his departure, saying a “new creative organisation” will be announced soon. Rousteing shared an emotional farewell on Instagram, calling it the end of his “Balmain era.” His next steps are not yet known, while Balmain faces a potential shift in creative direction.
