Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic has been handed a staggering eight-match suspension after admitting to biting Blackburn's Owen Beck during last month’s intense goalless draw at Deepdale. The Montenegro international left noticeable teeth marks on Beck’s shoulder but surprisingly escaped a red card at the time, as referee Matt Donohue did not witness the incident.

In a twist of irony, it was Beck who received a red card for kicking out at Duane Holmes moments before, leading to his own three-match ban. He has already missed Blackburn’s recent games against QPR and Coventry.

On Friday, the Football Association found Osmajic guilty of violent conduct, imposing a much harsher punishment given the severity of his actions. In an official statement, the FA announced: “Preston North End’s Milutin Osmajic has been given an eight-match suspension and £15,000 fine for misconduct during their match against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship on Sunday 22 September.”

The statement continued, “The forward admitted that he committed an act of violent conduct around the 87th minute by biting an opponent. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing. Its written reasons will be published in due course.”

Osmajic's suspension will take effect immediately, but it's worth noting he has already participated in two games since the incident, including a stunning performance against Watford where he scored two goals in a 3-0 victory.

Preston North End acknowledged the FA's decision in a statement but refrained from providing further comments until the written reasons are released. This unexpected turn of events has left fans and analysts buzzing—what does this mean for Osmajic's future and Preston's season?

Osmajic’s ban will begin immediately. However, he has already featured in two games since he bit Beck – including Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Watford in which he scored two goals.

Preston issued a statement with the Championship club ‘acknowledging the decision’, adding it will provide no further comment until the written reasons are published.
