Before the man who killed her ex-fiancé Sutton Tennyson was sentenced to life in prison, Angela Simmons gave an emotional speech in court.

Angela Simmons' life was turned upside down in 2018 when she learned that her son's father had been murdered.
Justice has now been done.

Following a violent argument, Angela's ex-fiancé/father of her 5-year-old son Sutton Tennyson was fatally murdered outside of Sutton's garage by a man called Michael Williams.
Sutton was 37 years old at the time.

Michael turned himself in to police a few days after the shooting and was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and murder.
For possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, he was sentenced to an additional 15 years.
After serving a minimum of 30 years in prison, he will be eligible for parole.

Even though justice was done, the situation remains unpleasant and tragic for all those involved.
Angela and Sutton's family are in my thoughts and prayers for their recovery.

The "Growing Up Hip Hop" singer spoke in court about how her 5-year-old son, Sutton Jr., often wonders when his father will return.
She admitted to the judge that she used to cry all the time because she knew how happy Sutton Sr. was to raise his son.
Angela is saddened by the fact that SJ will never know what it's like to have a father.

Angela turned to social media after the sentencing to share the news that justice had won.

”Justice served today! We got you ! We got him,” she wrote on photos of herself, Sutton Sr., their son SJ, and Sutton’s family.

The 34-year-old mother added that she will always be strong for her son and try to make him happy.

Sutton Sr. was shot and killed outside his garage on November 3, 2018, after a violent altercation with Michael Williams.

Sutton was found with nearly a dozen gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the spot.

He would have turned 38 years old on November 5th.

Sutton Sr. and Angela began dating in 2015, they married in 2016, and Sutton Jr. was born in September 2016.

In late 2017, Angela stated that she and Sutton had called off their engagement.

In an interview with Power 105's "The Breakfast Club," she explained why she and Sutton decided to call it quits, saying:

”Things don't always work," she said. "You can plan, plan, plan, but God sometimes have another plan or your actions are going to have your plan change drastically. ... Personally, things change. People come in and out your life. People change and you just have to be willing to accept that. And I've just gotten to the point where 'you are who you are' and I'm just going to accept you for who you are. You can't change people."
