The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has warned Nigerian youths to stop money rituals. He spoke on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin to round off the 2018 annual Igue festival celebrations.
He said young people caught in the illusion that they could become rich by killing people or stealing lingerie for ritual purposes would undoubtedly face the consequences. He added that behavior was disgusting and alien to Benin's customs and traditions. The monarch intervened for Nigeria and its leaders and urged politicians and young people to avoid actions that could harm free, fair and credible elections in 2019 and also warned politicians to give up violence and other actions against the election process. He warned young people not to let themselves be used as political bandits to cause chaos during the election.
