Solange was awarded the Impact Award for her activist efforts on issues like racism and cultural appropriation.
During her acceptance speech, she shared, “I grew up in this industry and I have heard women being told they were not talented enough, or smart enough, or sexy enough, or cool enough, and just not good enough and that became the industry standard. I’m so proud and excited to see artists rejecting those standards and tearing those walls down. It’s a new goddamn day and I’m loving it.”
