Queen Elizabeth Appoints Prince Harry To Take Over From His Grandfather As Captain General Of The Royal Marines

Prince Harry succeeded his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, as captain general of the Royal Marines, after the nomination was approved by the Queen.  Harry accompanied Prince Philip on his last assignment as Captain General today as they welcomed the incoming and outgoing General Commanders at Buckingham Palace.  The Duke's association with the Royal Marines dates back to 64 years, in 1953, when he was appointed captain general to replace the King's father, King George VI.
