Nigerian Medical Director Warns On Traditional Bonesetters
The chief medical director of the Kano National Orthopedic Hospital, Dr. Mohammad Nuhu Saliu, warned patients with multiple fractions against the patronage of traditional chopsticks.
Speaking at the 58th anniversary of Kano Hospital, Saliu lamented the increasing rate at which patients are returning to hospitals with dead limbs due to the ravages of traditional healers.
Spinal surgeon and plastic surgeon, who raised concerns about the acute shortage of orthopedic technologists, especially in the northern part of the country, urged governors to establish orthopedic institutions to train intermediate experts.
