Mariah Carey’s hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” has finally made it to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. This is the first time the song has entered the top 10 since its release in 1994 on her fourth studio album Merry Christmas.
She shared her excitement with Billboard saying, “This is such an amazing Christmas gift! As a songwriter, I feel so honored to have this song reach Billboard’s [Hot 100] top 10 for the first time.”
She continued, “I honestly never thought we’d be talking about this happening, but I’m so thankful to everyone who embraces this song as part of their holiday tradition. It truly warms my heart, and I am proud of this song that I wrote basically as a kid on my little Casio keyboard.”
The song is No. 9 on the chart, with Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé‘s “Perfect” at No. 1 for the second consecutive week.
According to Billboard, this is Carey’s 28th time on the Hot 100’s top 10. “Christmas” is her first on the list since her 2009 single “Obsessed” reached No. 7.
She earned 19 top 10s in the 1990s and eight in the 2000s. She has the most songs to hit No. 1 among soloists, with 18 reaching the top, according to the outlet, just behind the Beatles, who have 20.
