Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, is serving 25 years in prison for human rights abuses, forgave Sunday for "humanitarian and health reasons". According to a statement by current President Pedro Pauza Kuczynski, Fujimori "suffers from progressive, degenerative and incurable diseases. Prison terms mean a serious risk to his life, health and integrity." Fujimori was convicted in 2009 after being sentenced for the death row in charge of the murder of civilians. He was president from 1990 to 2000. On Saturday, Fujimori, 79, was transferred to the Limi hospital after experiencing a fall in blood pressure and heart arrhythmia, his physician told reporters. Kuczynski pardoned Fujimori and seven other people "in a similar state" on Sunday evening. Fujimori's son Kenji Fujimori was among the few deputies who had abstained from last week to remove Kuczynski from the office in the middle of the scandal of bribery. Kuczynski escaped eight-charge charges.
