“I want to say sorry to everyone that bet on me and lost their money” — Nkechi Blessing speaks on bout with Phyna

On September 17, 2026, Nkechi publicly called out Phyna on Instagram, telling her to calm down and questioning why she seemed to be fighting with everyone.
Phyna responded by questioning why Nkechi was coming for her when they weren't close friends. She also shared screenshots showing that they had previously discussed a possible movie role and a paid stream, and their earlier conversations appeared friendly.
The argument escalated, and Balmoral Promotions' “Chaos in the Ring” eventually put them against each other.

Then they actually fought
On October 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, Phyna and Nkechi fought in what was billed as the first female celebrity boxing bout under the series.
Phyna won by fourth-round knockout. She used her speed and movement rather than trying to overpower the physically bigger Nkechi.
Phyna received ₦50 million, a championship belt and a new car for the victory.

Former BBNaija housemate Sheggz reportedly placed ₦10 million on Nkechi to beat Phyna. The bet had a potential return of about ₦21.1 million, but Phyna's knockout meant the wager was lost.

Speaking in a video, Nkechi said she had never been involved in a fight before the bout and described the experience as a new one for her.

She said the event also allowed her to see the people who supported her as well as those who mocked her online.

Nkechi thanked those who stood by her and apologised to those who placed bets on her but lost their money.

She didn't say:
“Sorry I lost.”

She said:
“Sorry to everyone that bet on me and lost their money.”

She was thinking about the people whose confidence in her had a financial consequence.

Phyna won the fight, but other people also lost something because they believed Nkechi would win.
