VeryDarkMan Says Ademola Adeleke Finally Revealed His APC Allegiance as Davido Is Dragged Into Brouhaha

Social media commentator VeryDarkMan has reignited a political controversy surrounding Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, following the governor's new role in President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign.

VDM accused Adeleke of being an “APC puppet” and claimed that the governor had been an APC supporter all along, despite contesting the 2026 Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.

The activist also dragged Afrobeats star Davido, Adeleke's nephew, into the controversy, alleging that the singer knew about his uncle's supposed political allegiance.

What Happened?

The controversy intensified after the APC unveiled its revised 2027 Presidential Campaign Council on October 13, naming Adeleke as the party's coordinator for Tinubu's presidential campaign in Osun State.

The development was striking because Adeleke remains an Accord Party governor, having secured his second term in August 2026 after defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Adeleke has nevertheless publicly endorsed Tinubu's bid for another term.

After his governorship victory, he explained that his support was motivated by his desire to see federal projects in the South-West completed and said he had not reached an agreement with Tinubu.

What Did VeryDarkMan Say?

VDM interpreted Adeleke's appointment as evidence that the governor's relationship with the APC was deeper than previously presented.

He alleged that Adeleke had “always been APC” and described the Osun governorship election as effectively an APC primary.

He also claimed that Davido knew about his uncle's alleged political position but kept it from the public because openly acknowledging it could have affected the election.

These are VeryDarkMan's allegations. They have not been independently established as fact.

Did VDM Actually Expose Adeleke?

This is where the story becomes more complicated.

There is now clear evidence of Adeleke's cooperation with Tinubu's 2027 campaign. The APC officially named him its Osun campaign coordinator, and Adeleke has publicly backed Tinubu's re-election.

But that does not automatically prove that Adeleke has always been an APC member.

Available fact-checking found no evidence, as of October 16, that Adeleke had formally joined the APC through membership registration, a defection announcement or an APC admission. He remains identified as an Accord governor.

Supporting an APC presidential candidate is not the same thing as becoming an APC member.

Why Is Davido Being Dragged Into It?

Davido publicly supported his uncle during the Osun governorship campaign and had previously made strongly anti-APC comments.

VDM is now using Adeleke's cooperation with Tinubu to question those earlier political positions.

The controversy therefore involves two separate questions:

Did Adeleke genuinely change his political position after the election?

Did he have a closer relationship with the APC before the election than voters knew?

The first question has evidence behind it: Adeleke is now working within Tinubu's campaign structure.

The second remains an allegation that requires evidence.

The controversy highlights one of the most interesting features of Nigerian politics ahead of 2027: political alliances are increasingly crossing traditional party lines.

Adeleke is not the only opposition-linked politician now working with Tinubu's campaign structure. The APC's revised council also includes figures such as Rivers/FCT political heavyweight Nyesom Wike and Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo in campaign roles.

That makes Adeleke's appointment bigger than a social-media argument between VDM and Davido.

It raises questions about whether Nigerian politics ahead of 2027 will be driven more by party loyalty or political alliances and regional interests.

For Adeleke, the immediate reality is clear: he remains an Accord governor but has accepted a major role campaigning for an APC presidential candidate.

Whether that amounts to the “APC allegiance” VDM claims is a different question—and one that cannot be established simply from the appointment.

VeryDarkMan has exposed a major political development, but he has not conclusively proved his larger allegation that Adeleke has “always been APC.”

What has been established is that Adeleke has publicly backed Tinubu and has now been given responsibility for coordinating Tinubu's 2027 campaign in Osun.

The unresolved question is when that political alignment began and what, if anything, existed behind the scenes before the Osun election.
