The Western-inspired party featured cowboy-themed décor, entertainment and plenty of fashion moments from the adults and children in attendance.
For grandmother Iyabo Ojo, the occasion was especially significant. She joined Priscilla and Juma for the celebrations and embraced the cowboy theme with her own dramatic looks. Her appearance quickly became one of the fashion talking points from the event.
Toke Makinwa and daughter Eliana in matchy White/Red dolce and gabbana was also among the celebrity guests, while Chioma GoodHair Ikokwu—Priscilla’s godmother—joined the celebration in Bottega Veneta. Other entertainment personalities reported at the party included Mercy Aigbe, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Enioluwa, Veekee James in white and her husband Femi, Yhemo Lee and others.
The birthday came just days after Priscilla and Juma made another major decision about their son’s public life: they revealed Rakeem’s face for the first time on his actual first birthday. For his first year, the couple had deliberately kept his face private while sharing selected glimpses of him online.
That makes the birthday more than a lavish party. It marked the end of a very intentional first year of privacy for Rakeem. His parents chose his first birthday to introduce his face publicly, then followed it with a large celebration surrounded by people from their personal and entertainment circles.
And the guest list tells its own story. Rakeem is growing up at the intersection of Nigerian entertainment, Tanzanian celebrity culture and a very visible extended family. His grandmother is a major Nollywood figure, his mother is an influencer and entrepreneur, and his father is a Tanzanian music star. Naturally, his first birthday became a social event in its own right.
Priscilla and Juma welcomed Rakeem on August 24, 2025, in Canada. On his first birthday, they described the past year as one of the biggest blessings of their lives and prayed for their son to grow up healthy, happy and purposeful.
The family has now moved from carefully framed photographs of Rakeem to openly celebrating his milestones—and his first birthday provided the perfect occasion to bring the people closest to the family together.
