Jay-Z's Dramatic Hair Transformation Puts Beyoncé's Cécred in the Spotlight to remove dreadlocks

Recent reports indicate that Jay-Z used products from Beyoncé's haircare brand, Cécred, during the process of removing (combing out) his long locs and transitioning to his new afro hairstyle. According to multiple reports, the process took several days and involved extensive use of Cécred detangling and conditioning products to preserve the length and health of his hair.

What's interesting is that many people assumed Jay-Z had cut off his locs completely. The transformation sparked conversation because it reminded people that mature locs can sometimes be carefully combed out rather than cut, although the process is extremely time-consuming. Reports from hairstylists involved say it took four to six days to fully detangle his hair.

From a branding perspective, it became an unexpected win for Cécred. The story wasn't just about a hairstyle change—it became a public demonstration of the brand's detangling and hair-care capabilities, generating significant discussion across social media and entertainment media.

According to celebrity hairstylist Letisia "Letty" Ravelo, Jay-Z did not cut off his locs. Instead, they were carefully combed out over several days using products from Beyoncé's haircare brand, Cécred. Ravelo said the process took six days and required extensive conditioning and detangling to preserve both the length and health of his hair.

One of the most shared quotes came from Ravelo's interview:

"It took six days to deconstruct the locs."

She also emphasized:

"The key is moisture and patience."

Ravelo revealed that multiple Cécred products were used throughout the process, including the brand's detangling spray, deep conditioner, reconstructing treatment mask, and moisture products. She said preserving the health of the hair was the priority rather than rushing the transformation.

Social media reactions were mixed but largely fascinated. Many users were shocked that years-old locs could be combed out without cutting the hair. Others praised the versatility of natural Black hair, while some jokingly accused Jay-Z of wearing a hairpiece before the hairstylist explained the process.

The transformation also generated significant attention for Cécred, with many users linking the viral moment to Beyoncé's growing presence in the beauty industry. A widely circulated Threads post reportedly claimed the process involved several bottles of Cécred products, further fueling online discussion around the brand.
