Dua Lipa Opens Sunny Hill Library in Kosovo, Expanding Access to Books and Learning

Global pop star Dua Lipa has officially opened the Sunny Hill Library in Pristina, Kosovo, a community-focused space created by the Sunny Hill Foundation to encourage reading, creativity, and lifelong learning among young people.

More than just a library, the space is designed to serve as a cultural hub where children and young adults can explore books, take part in educational activities, and discover new opportunities to learn and create.

Speaking about the project, Dua Lipa emphasized the importance of giving young people access to knowledge and inspiration, saying, "Every child deserves a place where they can dream, learn and imagine what's possible."

The library reflects her long-standing commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of Kosovo's next generation.

Do you think access to libraries can still transform lives in the digital age, or has the internet replaced their role?

The project builds on the mission of the Sunny Hill Foundation, which has long supported youth development through education, arts, and culture.

The library reflects the foundation's broader commitment to empowering the next generation by creating spaces where children and young adults can read, learn, and explore new ideas. While best known for the Sunny Hill Festival, the foundation has increasingly invested in initiatives that extend beyond music to education and community development.

For Kosovo, where nearly half the population is under the age of 25, projects that encourage literacy and learning carry significance beyond the immediate benefit of providing books. They represent an investment in opportunity, critical thinking, and the creative potential of a new generation.

The initiative also reflects a growing trend among global entertainers who are using their influence to build lasting institutions rather than simply support one-time charitable campaigns. Libraries, scholarships, and educational programs often have an impact that extends well beyond a celebrity's public appearances, creating resources that communities can benefit from for years.

Dua Lipa's latest contribution underscores how philanthropy can evolve alongside a public career. While her music has introduced millions to her artistry, projects like the Sunny Hill Library suggest that legacy can also be measured by the spaces created for others to learn, imagine, and grow.
