Lilian Afegbai shades AMVCA Snub

Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has sparked buzz online after subtly (and not-so-subtly 😅) shading the organizers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards following her exclusion from the 2026 nominations. 

The actress, who played the standout role of Idia in To Kill a Monkey, took to social media shortly after the list dropped, initially posting a simple but telling reaction: “AMVCA SMH.” 

She later doubled down with a more direct message, making it clear she wasn’t pleased with the snub. According to reports, she insisted that her performance spoke for itself and didn’t need award validation, boldly stating: “Nobody trended like IDIA… You guys can eat your award.”  This statement has since gone viral, with fans divided — some backing her confidence, others questioning the tone.

 The Shade or Self-Confidence?

While her comments may come off as “shade,” Lilian also emphasized a deeper message: she doesn’t rely on awards to define her talent.
