Throwback Helen Prest

Helen Prest-Ajayi is a Nigerian lawyer, writer, and former beauty queen who was crowned Miss Nigeria in 1979 at age 19. She went on to represent Nigeria at the Miss World pageant that same year on the international stage.

Helen’s early pageant years as part of a classic era of beauty competitions — when contestants were expected to display elegance in every aspect, including swimwear, evening wear, and poise. 

Through her participation on the international stage in 1979, she became one of Nigeria’s most iconic beauty queens — a throwback reference point for beauty and grace that still gets celebrated today.
