Producer Bangladesh says it took 17 years for Kelis to sign off on his correct royalty split for the hit single “Bossy,” which he produced back in 2006. Because the paperwork was never properly completed at the time the song was released, he alleges that he wasn’t paid his full share of royalties for nearly two decades.
According to Bangladesh, Kelis was “real difficult” in agreeing to sign the split sheet that would ensure he received his producer royalties — and it wasn’t until around 2023 that the paperwork finally got resolved so he could be paid for his contribution to the track.
