Ghana's Eboh arrested

Evans “Ebo Noah” Eshun — the Ghanaian social media figure who drew massive attention in 2025 with a viral doomsday prophecy — has been arrested and remanded in custody by the Ghana Police Service following months of controversy over his claims of an impending global flood. The self-styled prophet, who had predicted a catastrophic deluge beginning on December 25 and showcased what he called modern-day “arks,” was taken into custody on December 31, 2025, by the Special Cyber Vetting Team amid rising concern that his messages were causing fear and panic among followers. The Adentan Circuit Court has ordered that Ebo Noah undergo a psychiatric evaluation ahead of his next hearing after remanding him in police custody for two weeks on charges including false communication and publishing false news.

Reactions to the arrest have been mixed, adding layers to a story that blurred the lines between viral content and public safety. Award-winning rapper Sarkodie publicly questioned the basis for the arrest, suggesting Ebo Noah may have been creating content rather than committing a crime, while authorities have emphasized the need to curb misinformation that could induce widespread anxiety. Whatever the truth, the episode — from viral videos and sackcloth-clad ark footage to courtroom remand and psychiatric assessment orders — has become more than a local headline; it’s a cautionary moment about influence, social media, and the cost of narratives that travel faster than truth
