Rita Dominic joined the conversation surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s visit to Nigeria, sharing a glimpse of the memorable occasion with her followers.
The Nollywood actress posted about the visit while tagging several Nigerian personalities, including the Miss Nigeria organisation, filmmaker Ego Boyo, Senami Akinlabi and Olatomiwa Williams.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Nigeria for three days in May 2024 following an invitation connected to Harry’s work supporting wounded military personnel and veterans through the Invictus Games.
Their itinerary included Abuja and Lagos, where they met with students, military personnel, community organisations and Nigerian public figures. The couple also attended events focused on mental health, youth empowerment and women in leadership.
Their Lagos visit attracted considerable attention, with the couple receiving a cultural welcome and meeting Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries. Meghan also received Nigerian handwoven fabrics during the trip.
Rita Dominic’s post captured the Nigerian entertainment and social scene surrounding the high-profile visit.
The actress has long been recognised as one of Nollywood’s prominent figures, while her involvement with the Miss Nigeria organisation has also placed her increasingly in Nigeria’s fashion, entertainment and cultural space. In 2023, Dominic and filmmaker Mildred Okwo took leadership of the Miss Nigeria organisation.
Harry and Meghan’s visit consequently became more than a royal appearance. It brought together international figures with Nigerian leaders, entertainers, creatives and advocates, creating a moment of cultural exchange that generated significant attention across the country.
For Rita Dominic and the other personalities she highlighted, the occasion offered another opportunity to be part of a major moment connecting Nigeria with the wider international spotlight.#jaiyeorie
