#jaiyeorie Ikechukwu Onunaku, a Nigerian rapper best known by his stage name Ikechukwu, has shared details about his time as a member of the now-defunct MoHits record company. The Grammy-winning rapper said that D'banj, one of the label's proprietors, was constantly betraying him in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze. He said that out of the N1 or N2 million he was always paid for gigs, D'banj only handed him N50k. He claimed that anytime he was booked for a gig, the money would be paid to D'banj's account, who would then give him a pitiful sum of money. Later on, though, once his fee was examined and he was given a raise to N150000 per show, things took a different turn. The choice that D'banj's mother made,
“When we used to go on the road, dem go pay Banga money, Banga go do like say e dey do me favor, him go give me N50k, back then I used to book like N1.5m, N1m, N2m. He increased it one time after we don fight, he increased am say ‘e talk to mummy, we go increase am to N150k’.”
Mummy is Dbanj’s mum, she was part of the record label spiritually. Ask Don Jazzy, dem no dey make decisions without momsi giving the okay for a very long time.”
The revelation by Ikechukwu has left many noting how D’banj is always in the news for negative reasons.
