Nollywood actress and film producer, Ini Edo, has revealed why she is still single at the age of 41.
The movie star, in an interview with Toke Makinwa on his Toke Moments podcast, said she is single because she wants to be with someone who loves her. Ini says she is not looking so much in a man but she is looking for a man who respects and protects her.
According to her, if a man cannot give her the energy to protect and respect her, then she cannot be with that man. Ini Edo makes it clear that it's not that she doesn't see love, but loving someone and being loved are two different things, because you can love someone without being willing to commit to them. Ini makes it clear that it's not about having money but knowing how to live and handle situations.
“Not like I don’t see love. Loving somebody and being loved are two different things. You can love someone but you are not ready to be committed. Maybe this is why I’m still single: I can’t be in a toxic relationship.
If you cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you… I can not be with a man that I don’t respect. If you can not earn my respect, then we cannot be together. Because what’s the point? When it gets to the point when I start to disrespect you, that means you have brought yourself down to a point where I begin to talk back at you. Sometimes, it’s not even about having money. It’s about how you are able to love and manage situations and the people around you. Kindness!”.

Ini Edo is a popular actress that many guys are interested in. The actress has talked about what she wants in a man for people like her.
On the Toke Moments podcast, Edo said that in his opinion, a man is meant to be the leader of the family and look after them, based on his own experiences and beliefs.
“If a man cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect him, I cannot be in a relationship with him. It is not always about money, but how he can manage the people and situations around him.”
The actress also stated that some men feel insecure with powerful women because of their egos. She said, “Some men are threatened by women’s strength and do not want to see their women successful, so that she can do all the basic things that we grew up to believe are expected of women. So, when a woman gets too powerful, it feels like she is competing with their egos, or whatever it is that makes them masculine.”
Edo, who had a baby some years ago via surrogacy, added that she wished she had become a mother earlier. Talking about her daughter, she said, “I believe in taking life step by step. But, I still feel I should have had my child way before now. I was waiting for the right person, because I wanted to have a family and do it with a man.”
She continued, “I want my daughter to have an independent mind. I just left the house, and she started crying. Whenever she does that, I find myself thinking about her all the way. I also think of returning home, but I have to work.”
