Following the two-week deadline set by the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on September 7, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is said to have cleared all 204,332 pending passport applications.Remember that the Minister ordered that the backlog of passport applications be addressed within two weeks after taking office.

He had lamented the painful experiences that Nigerians both at home and abroad experienced as a result of the delays in passport issue.President Tinubu's special assistant on new media, Segun Dada, said that the backlogs have been eliminated in a post made on his X account. Some Nigerians, however, dispute his assertion, stating that despite having applied for passports months ago, they have yet to be issued.
