Chelsea wins Premier League Summer Series after defeating Fulham

The Blues advanced to the competition's championship game after winning two of their three preseason games. After beating Fulham, Chelsea won the Premier League Summer Series. The game was tied after 20 minutes of relatively hesitant play that seemed very preseason-like for Chelsea thanks to veteran Thiago Silva. After a corner kick, the defender rose highest at the near post and blasted a header past Bernd Leno and into the goal.
Five minutes later, Christopher Nkunku would give Chelsea their well-deserved second goal. Following a deft stop by Leno from Carney Chukwuemeka, the attacker responded quickly to score. During the match, Pochettino handed surprise opportunities to several of the club’s younger crop, including goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina and forward Mason Burstow.
The half-time changes largely scuppered the momentum the Blues had built in the first half, however, new signing Nicolas Jackson did cause a few problems with his dynamic running in behind. Fulham introduced new signings Raul Jimenez and Super Eagles’ Calvin Bassey at half-time but they couldn’t inspire a comeback against Chelsea.
The result meant Chelsea finished top of the six-team tournament with seven points, followed by Aston Villa with five points ahead of Newcastle on goal difference. Brentford finished bottom after losing two matches and drawing one. According to Adeshola Adefuwa-Cole, CEO of Cole Management Services, top Nigerian music stars prefer to charge in dollars, either at home or abroad, to keep up with the world’s market forces.
Adefuwa-Cole revealed what some of the top Nigerian music acts charge per event. Burna Boy currently commands the highest performance fee, charging 1 million dollars or more per show. Wizkid charges between 800 thousand dollars to 1 million dollars, while Davido is in third place, charging around 500 thousand dollars. Olamide also charges 500 thousand dollars per show. Aside from the fixed performance fees, other considerations are made as the artists make other demands for themselves and their crew as part of convenience for the show. For instance, for Wizkid, a chartered flight must be provided, with one business class and six economy return tickets. The fees charged by the top Nigerian music acts are influenced by many factors, including the location of the event, the size of the audience, and the artist’s popularity. “The booking must be confirmed before the contract is signed and it must be one business class and 6 economy return tickets from Lagos. For accommodation, it is one penthouse suite, one premium suite and ten single standard rooms. For Per-diem or daily allowance, it is $300 (Artiste), $200 (Manager) and $100 (crew) daily per person. Performance fees for shows have remained an important part of their income and with the rise of Afrobeats, artists have been commanding higher fees for their performances at events, shows, and concerts.

Actress Eniola Badmus has insisted on charging a TikTok user, Ego Okoye, to court for defamation.
The actress made the statement in a video clip confirming Okoye’s arrest after she made a viral post tagging Badmus as someone who had been arranging ladies for politicians.
In the video clip, Okoye was heard describing Badmus as a PIMP – someone who controls prostitutes and arranges clients for them, taking a percentage of their earnings in return.
She even went further to allude that the actress had at a point in time attempted to hook one of her friends up with a politician.

The Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of Officer Mohammed Aminu, who was assaulted by Seun Kuti, to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). This promotion comes after Officer Aminu was subjected to a brutal assault by Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti several months ago. The PSC’s decision, revealed during its 21st plenary meeting, reflects the officer’s remarkable display of professionalism even in the face of aggression.
The incident, which was captured on tape, showed Seun Kuti assaulting Officer Aminu, who managed to maintain his composure and restraint despite the provocation. Subsequently, the singer was arrested and charged with assault, to which he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail pending further legal proceedings. In a statement released on Thursday, the PSC commended Officer Aminu for his unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of the Nigerian Police Force during the incident. Despite the physical attack, Officer Aminu demonstrated a high level of professionalism and adherence to his duty, earning him the well-deserved promotion to the rank of ASP.
Alongside Officer Aminu’s promotion, the PSC also approved the appointment of two Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) and recognized the achievements of other dedicated officers. CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, was promoted to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in recognition of his exemplary service. Furthermore, the PSC confirmed the appointments of 9,016 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) and authorized the promotion of 14,052 inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (unconfirmed). Among these promotions, Inspector Habila Bulus was elevated to ASP II, acknowledging his gallantry and outstanding commitment to his duty. “Inspector Mohammed Aminu, who trended on social media where he was seen being assaulted in uniform by one Seun Kuti, was also promoted to ASP I. “One Inspector Habila Bulus was promoted to ASP II for his gallantry and commitment to duty,” Ani said.

The ‘Cash App’ crooner lost his son at birth last year, a few days before the release of his debut album.
Fortunately, he welcomed a son a few days before the release of his sophomore project this year.
