The deputy governor of Lagos, Mr Obafemi Hamzat is in a fresh citizenship controversy after documents of his renounciation of his allegiance to Nigeria, and his subsequent naturalization as a citizen of the United States of America has been presented by investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin after his petition to Homeland Security was granted. This puts Mr Hamzat's current position and that of his boss, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as deputy governor & governor of Lagos state respectively, at stake owing to the fact that it is an aberration of Nigeria's constitution for a non-citizen to occupy any electable position within the country. Documents show that Mr Hamzat renounced his Nigerian citizenship on 22nd November 2002 after naturalizing as a US citizen. ✍️“feel free to disagree in the comments 👀 ☝️👆 & let JAIYEORIE know what U think!” 📎
