Yvonne Nelson, a popular movie actor from Ghana, has revealed shocking facts about some of her experiences there.
In her much-discussed book, Nelson revealed that occasionally, attending gatherings like birthday parties and other events was more profitable for her than acting in Ghanaian movies.
The well-known actress alleged that the "Giant of Africa" had party hosts who were willing to shell out enormous sums of money to hire particular celebrities simply to attend.
She believed that the appearance of these rented guests was likely a strategy used by them to demonstrate their social standing or even class.
“There were people who held parties and were prepared to pay you to attend just to enhance their status or show their class.
“The array of celebrities that attended someone’s party showed who they were.
“And being present at someone’s birthday or some other celebratory event sometimes paid me more than acting in a movie in Ghana,” she wrote.
