Shakira is currently going through it, as a Spanish judge on Tuesday, September 27, approved that she stand trial for tax fraud.
As previously reported, the Columbian singer, who recently ended her relationship with her long-term husband and father of her two sons, Gerard Pique, was charged in 2018 by authorities with failing to pay $13.9 million in taxes on income received between 2012 and 2014.
Prosecutors are seeking an eight-year prison sentence as well as a large fine if she is found guilty of tax evasion as a result of her claimed failure.
Despite this, the 45-year-old has denied any wrongdoing, and her public relations company has stated that she has paid what she owed plus $3 million in interest, according to the Associated Press.
However, because she turned down a settlement offer in the case in July, she will go to trial.
A date has yet to be determined.
