 As the justification for his name change, BNXN has stated that he is considering the long term preservation of creative control over his output.


The musician formerly known as Buju revealed that his former stage name, which is Beauty Underneath Just Understood, is a perfectly acceptable way to address him.


BNXN continued by saying that he made the decision to resume using his surname as his artist name because he didn't want to risk having his work taken away due to "copyrights or whatever."
He further stated that when making his creative investments, safety came first.

Beauty Underneath Just Understood is what Buju means , I only decided to use my surname Benson as my artiste name to avoid losing all my work to copyrights or whatsoever. Safety first but that’s still me and I can’t blame anyone for still calling me Buju. I own it.
