Pop music stans and their frequently violent way of expressing their allegiance to the celebrities they like have garnered a lot of attention online, but maybe no group is as feared as the BeyHive, the swarming, stinging internet army devoted to Beyonce.
They have even criticized Beyonce's acclaimed contemporaries and antecedents like "Diane Warren, who had the awful nerve to question the number of songwriters on the record," as they have been busier than ever this week with the release of her new album Renaissance and her taking of new creative risks.

She questioned on Twitter, "How can there be 24 writers on a song.
Beyonce's self-appointed defense team wasn't taking any chances despite the R&B icon's claims that she didn't mean any offense.
She also included the emoji for rolling eyes, which is an ubiquitous representation of sarcasm on the internet, which probably didn't help.

In either case, Beyonce fans who jumped in with their opinions on the subject offered Ms. Diane "helpful" primers on the subject of sample credits or simply bullied the 65-year-old singer, ordering her to stay in her lane.
Warren's numerous long-lasting contributions as a songwriter to the musical canon were acknowledged by some fans who joined the brawl, but the damage had already been done.
