#jaiyeorie the "silent twins," tells the tale of two young black ladies who grew up in Haverfordwest, Wales, and only spoke to one another.
The school and care institutions essentially abandoned them, but they nevertheless produced reams of vividly creative poems and stories, with June even self-publishing a novel.
When the twins were admitted to the Broadmoor hospital for theft and arson in 1981, it helped them establish a reputation as genuine outsider artists.
Investigative reporter and mental health advocate Marjorie Wallace took up their case.

In this UK-Polish co-production, screenwriter Andrea Seigel has adapted Wallace's book on the case, which has been the subject of numerous theatre and cinema adaptations. Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyska is helming the film.
As the adult actors, Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance succeed. The movie, featuring Letitia Wright from Black Panther, demonstrates how silence (or nearly silence) is a potent form of communication.
This September, the movie will be released in the US after making its world premiere at Cannes.

June (Wright) and Jennifer (Tamara Lawrance), two twin sisters, are first seen in the trailer. The girls don't interact with anyone around them and appear to be rather closed off from others.
The sisters then appear in a brief sequence of images, always by each other's sides and coping with some bullying at school.
The sisters, who are now older but are being told they must separate from one another, are accompanied by a menacing instrumental track as the trailer goes on.
