A 30-year-old guy was buried alive on Monday, July 25, at Jean Marie Secondary School in Nandi County, Kenya, when he was building a pit toilet.


Josphat, one of the three workers hired to dig the hole at the school, became trapped when the pit's walls collapsed about 2:00 pm.



The tragedy occurred while the trio were completing their job, according to Nicholas Odungo, who was a member of the team digging the hole.


The pit was 30 feet deep at the time.



When the incident occurred, Odungo and his fellow employee were on their way to lunch. 

“We had gone for lunch and we told him to continue digging. We returned shortly after to help him remove the soil and while in the process of tying the rope the walls cave in,” Odungo said.

The father of three is still trapped in the rubble and rescue efforts are ongoing.
