Both combatants will square off early on Sunday morning, Nigerian time, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Adesanya will defend his title for the sixth time at UFC 256 after defeating Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 in 2019.
Since then, he has defeated Marvin Vettori, Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Robert Whittaker (twice), and Robert Whittaker.
The UFC record of Adesanya is 22 wins and just one loss, while the record of Cannonier's opponent is 15 wins and five losses.
Adesanya, the defending champion and the main attraction of the event, seemed upbeat and claimed that the pressure and expectations only motivate him.
“I like to live up to the challenge and if you go on my ‘FreeStyleBender’ YouTube page, me and Alex [Volkanovski] had a breakdown, and we didn’t skip a fight because it’s stacked-literally.
“This is the biggest fight card of the year. We have to show out.
That’s what it is. We have to show out, and you know when it’s time to
show up, I show off.” Adesanya said.
