Stranger Things' fourth season had a distinct influence on Doja Cat since it introduced her to someone fresh to swoon over, actor Joseph Quinn.
Doja inquired about Quinn in an Instagram private message to Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp in the hopes of igniting a new romance in her life.
However, things went awry when Schnapp ended up releasing the DMs in a TikTok video.
In a live broadcast, Doja criticized Schnapp's decision to share the private messages, calling it "borderline snake sh*t" and "weasel sh*t."
She said Schnapp is "a youngster," and "when you're that young, you make mistakes."
You do stupid things."
Doja's statements appear to have backfired, as she has lost 200,000 Instagram followers since her livestream, according to the Daily Mail.
This is a minor quantity in comparison to Doja's current 24.14 million followers (approximately 0.8 percent), thus the societal impact for the Planet Her artist will be minimal.
However, while Doja lost followers, Schnapp has seen an increase of nearly a million Instagram followers, as his count went from 24.25 million to 25.17 million, according to social media analytics company Social Blade. That actually puts Schnapp ahead of Doja on that front. The uptick is most likely because of the new Stranger Things season, but the Doja incident surely helped the boost in some way.
