Faith Arigbe Umenyi marked her 40th birthday with a stylish celebration in Bourdillon, Ikoyi, bringing together a close circle of friends from Lagos’ business, social and professional communities.
Among those in the mix were Lami Shonekan, Abimbola Oladapo, Ann Uju Zokus and the late Abisola Kola-Daisi, making it a memorable gathering of familiar faces from Lagos’ social circle.
The celebration reflected the kind of intimate but glamorous birthday gatherings that have long been part of Lagos’ social scene, with friends coming together to mark Faith’s milestone surrounded by people who had shared different chapters of her life.
Faith, who married Kenny Umenyi in 2012, has long maintained connections across Lagos’ professional and social circles. Her wedding celebrations that year brought together family and friends in a lavish multi-day celebration.
The photographs from her 40th birthday also offer a glimpse into a particular era of Lagos society, when gatherings around Bourdillon, Ikoyi and other established Lagos neighbourhoods regularly brought together prominent figures from business, law, fashion, events and entertainment.
Abisola Kola-Daisi’s presence is especially poignant today. She died in March 2025 at 42, and a memorial published after her death listed Faith Arigbe, Abimbola Oladapo, Ann Obianuju Akuazaoku and Lami Shonekan among the friends who remembered her.
Looking back, Faith’s 40th birthday captures more than a milestone celebration. It preserves a snapshot of a close-knit Lagos friendship circle and the women who occupied it.
