As part of the current administration's efforts to minimize traffic jams and illegal extortion in the area, the Lagos State Government has reached an agreement with the Nigerian Ports Authority to simplify checkpoints along the Apapa/Tincan axis.

Mr. Oluwatoyin Fayinka, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, declared at a stakeholders' meeting with Transport Unions that the State Government will enforce zero tolerance on illegal extortion and miscreant activities along the corridor through Special Mobile Courts created to address the identified challenges.
Fayinka also stated that by streamlining the corridor, illegal extortion points will be disbanded, and the agencies in charge of managing traffic flow along the axis will be clearly defined and assigned, preventing any illegal activity that could obstruct the smooth operation of the port for all stakeholders.

Trucks will no longer be stopped for ETO at Ijora Badia (LPC axis), Mile 2 Underneath and Over the bridge, UBA (TCIPC corridor), and NAGAFF, Area B, RRS Marine Bridge, 7up, Fidelity Roundabout, Etisalat Roundabout (LPC axis), and RRS Marine Bridge, according to the Special Adviser (TCIPC corridor).
While adding that the agreed-upon checkpoints have been assigned to certain agencies, he clarified that some will be manned solely by the NPA, while others will be shared by the NPA and the Lagos State Government.

He went on to say that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Rapid Response Squad, and the Nigerian Police Force will oversee some points independently of other agencies, and that military checkpoints along the Port Corridors will be eliminated.

Fayinka, on the other hand, issued a warning to union members as well as hoodlums extorting motorists along the axis, claiming that such criminal actions would no longer be tolerated on the corridors because they were incompatible with the area's desired continuous traffic flow.
As a result, the Special Adviser advised all stakeholders to follow the new strategy for optimizing traffic flow along port access routes and boosting economic activity in the State.
