#jaiyeorie Rite Foods' Bigi Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) brand has sponsored Ogun State First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun's "Adire Market Week," an exhibition for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in the local textile industry, as part of its efforts to ensure sustainable economic development in Southwestern Nigeria.
The Adire fabric (Yoruba, tie, and dye) is an indigo-dyed cloth manufactured by Yoruba women in Southwestern Nigeria utilizing a variety of resist-dyeing processes.
The exhibition, with the theme "Authentic African," was sponsored by the Bigi brand as part of local content development and took place in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, from April 7 to 9, 2022.
The three-day event, which was opened by the State's Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and attended by about 5,000 people, featured an exhibition of indigo-dyed fabric traders and producers, as well as a fashion show, as well as visits from various groups and agencies, including celebrity guests, designers, and artiste performances.
Rite Foods Brand Manager, Boluwatife Adedugbe, said the award-winning Bigi brand's support is a way of identifying with the people and cultural heritage of Ogun State, in encouraging skills and local content development, as well as economic transformation of SMEs and other value chains within the indigo-dyed fabric sector.
