Super Eagles star midfielder, Alex Iwobi who plays for Everton, will miss Nigeria’s match against Ghana for a spot in the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar.
The midfielder was sent off for a foul after coming on as a substitute in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 match against Tunisia.
Maguette N’Diaye, a Senegalese referee, had first issued a yellow card for the foul.
However, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) encouraged him to check the pitch-side monitor, and he did so, upgrading the yellow to a red.
Iwobi has been banned for the Super Eagles’ next African fixtures, which coincidentally include a match against the Black Stars. “feel free to disagree in the comments and let me know what you think!”
