Nelly Tries to Hug Ashanti at the Ja Rule / Fat Joe Verzus

For years rapper Nelly and Ashanti were an open secret couple who broke-up for good after Nelly began publicly flaunting his relationship with video vixen / actor Tae Heckard ,well last night Nelly tried to get a hug from his Grammy Award winning singer / songwriter ex..

Nelly can be seen walking across the stage straight toward Ashanti with his arms extended. It turned out he did get his hug—marking the first time the exes had seen or spoken to each other in years since their messy 2014 breakup.  

When Nelly and Ashanti originally broke up around 2013 after nearly a decade together, they kept the specific details very private at first. 

​Ashanti later opened up about the split, heavily implying that infidelity and broken trust were major factors. In interviews, she spoke candidly about feeling "betrayed" and dealing with a partner's "insecurities" and cowardice. She famously alluded to the public heartbreak during a concert.

Unfortunately the cameraman cuts away right before the money shot, so we can't tell if Nelly was successful in this quest.
