The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced on Friday, July 30, that its significant season of the 75th anniversary of 2021-22. The year will be marked as “NBA 75” and will feature the 75 greatest players in league history.
Paying homage to "NBA 75," which includes the diamond-shaped NBA anniversary logo and events throughout the season to celebrate the league's past, present and future, is part of a celebration that pays homage to the milestone.
Additional year-round celebrations will include special events in the team’s markets, NBA partner activities, and a limited edition product offering. The league’s broadcast partners, ESPN / ABC, TNT and NBA TV, will mark NBA 75 with an offer of content throughout the season.
The team of the top 75 NBA players of all time will select a panel of current and former players, coaches, CEOs, team leaders and the media, and will be unveiled in October, the same month the season begins.
The new uniforms will debut, and the 2022 NBA All-Star Game will be played in Cleveland, which last hosted the event in 1997, when the NBA celebrated its 50th anniversary.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver said;
“The 2021-22 season will be truly special as we celebrate 75 years of NBA basketball.
“We look forward to honoring the players and teams, both past and present, who have inspired generations of fans around the world.”
The first NBA season began in 1946 and featured 11 clubs, 3 of which are still active: the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Philadelphia Warriors, which are now the Golden State Warriors.
